News about successful aid projects in Haiti during the past year has not been as frequent as we all hoped. However, on January 9th Dateline NBC featured the efforts of a local Catholic church, Our Lady Queen of Peace in Arlington, Virginia, and the assistance they have provided to a remote Haitian village, Medor.
After parachuting in supplies and aid workers, the group provided medical attention to over a thousand people and also supervised the building of an airstrip in only 12 days so that aid could reach them more quickly! It was particularly impressive to see that a number of the volunteers making the parachute jump were senior citizens.
