Learn about employment trends in the nonprofit sector and techniques to be well positioned for nonprofit opportunities.
Today’s experienced worker and the nonprofit sector make great partners. More and more, older professionals are filling essential vacancies in nonprofit organizations and associations. In the nonprofit sector, individuals can focus their accumulated time, experience and talent on missions and issues that directly contribute to society. This program will review employment trends in the nonprofit sector and techniques you can use to be well positioned for nonprofit opportunities.

Barbara has worked with nonprofit organizations such as WAMU 88.5 FM (American University), Interfaith Works, Montgomery Community Media, and Randolph-Macon Academy. She is a past board member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
Cloud Computing Showdown: Office 365 vs. Google Apps
Tuesday, July 24 10:00am-11:30am
Washington, DC Classroom
Google Apps and Microsoft Office 365 are the two primary cloud-based options for replacing your on-premise computer system. Both of these cloud-based solutions save your nonprofit a small fortune, and both enable you to engage your stakeholders like never before. While you may not hear it from your IT folks, it’s more than likely that you’re going to move to one of these platforms sometime in the near future.
Each has its strengths and weaknesses. One is cheaper; one is prettier; one has more functionality -- but as always, the devil is in the details. In this case the details are as much about the nature of your organization as they are about each platform. You can download and play with free trials of each product -- but that won’t teach you what you need to know. This seminar will provide a demo and in-depth discussion of the two products, covering the strengths and weaknesses of each. There will also be time for Q&A.
About the Presenter:
Dave Schulman has 30 years experience in information technology. Prior to founding CloudOPX, he formed PracticeOne a cloud-based service provider delivering clinical and back services to physicians. He also founded and managed Business Engineering, Inc., a network integration firm with more than 300 customers in the greater Washington, DC, area for 14 years.
Before that, Mr. Schulman was IT director for Bendix Aerospace Corporate Headquarters. Earlier in his career, he was an independent consultant providing business process re-engineering and IT consulting services for Fortune 500 companies.
He admits that we have essentially come full-circle from the mainframe days of yore. The primary difference being that instead of a one large mainframe serving a single company, we now have literally billions of much smaller, yet more powerful devices networked together and scattered across the globe. One is probably in your pocket.
As always, check out our GrantSpace training calendar for all of our upcoming classes-programs-training courses!
